CIFNet was founded in June 1996 in Chicago by an emerging group of professionals set upon a common goal of providing quality network services to you, our customer. Our company is a privately held one, based out of the suburbs Chicago, Illinois. Our company’s founders and employees are the owners of the business, thus our interests are aligned with those of our clients – therefore every promise we make is backed by our reputation. 


Our mission is to help ensure the delivery of content to the world while protecting customers' assets (including data delivery) and maximizing our company's profitability. Our ‘bread and butter' products include dedicated servers, both managed and unmanaged, co-location services, IP bandwidth (“transit”) connectivity products, and network consulting services. We also believe that it is always better to under-promise and over-deliver, than vice versa, and this is what we do. We don't believe we can win every business out there, as we may not be the cheapest provider on the market, yet we deliver quality services at an adequate price. And that's what counts according to our existing customers. 


Unlike many of our competitors, we prefer to maintain an extremely low profile. We rarely issue PRs, we don't reveal names of our 'happy customers' on every page of our web site, nor do we publish our customers lists, we don't actively advertise, or maintain a large sales force. Actually we are contractually obligated to not reveal names of our key customers. 


We believe in building quality networks to provide premium services to our end customers vs. building publicity to attract everyone out there. We believe that managing a small, diverse, loyal (and finally profitable!) customer base is far better than managing a fairly large low margin customer base that isn't loyal. We'd like to reiterate, CIFNet isn't the cheapest provider, and if we can't deliver when both organizations can benefit from a relationship – we will not take your business on board. But if we can, we will deliver premium services at an adequate price over long-term. 


Everything we do, we do with the 'long-term' concept in mind. For us long-term isn't 1 week, 1 month, or even 1 year. Long-term is anything greater than 3 years. We build networks with this and only this concept in mind. We sign leases on our co-location space based on that concept. It is also the main reason why our key routing and switching equipment consists primarily out of Cisco 6500 series switches. Unlike many vendors, Cisco delivers adequate 'price per port' rich-feature technology, helping us to acquire the best gear at adequate prices, gear that will last for many years (think long-term!) to come without major capital expenditures. 


CIFNet's equipment in Chicago has been installed in secure telco-grade Data Center facilities, e.g. CoreSite (formerly CRG West), where public access is strictly forbidden. Such facilities were engineered to avoid any single point of failure in our connectivity, power, or HVAC. Power systems are designed to run uninterrupted. All servers, routers, switches and other equipment are fed with conditioned UPS that will run if utility power fails. In the event of an extended power outage, on-site diesel generators can run almost indefinitely. Generators are regularly tested to ensure their ability to function at any time should the need arise. All air is circulated and filtered to remove dust and contaminants. The data center's HVAC (Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning) system is N+1 redundant to ensure that there is a secondary system in place to take over the primary. An advanced fire-suppression system is in place to prevent any fire from spreading. 


Network engineers monitor our network around the clock, 365 days a year. To ensure the lowest amount of human error possible in order to maintain a healthy network, we limit our employee access to make adjustments or modifications to our key infrastructure, as well as limit access to the physical part of network. 


And while we prefer our customers to use advance ticketing system, our knowledgeable tech staff will still answer the phone, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We pride ourselves on 30-minute response time to any technical problem or concern you may have. We provide our customers with accurate technical descriptions of our equipment and what's going on with our network in the event of an outage. Our current network design and equipment selection is engineered to provide our customers with a fault tolerant connection to the Internet, utilizing quality Network Service Providers. This all means low/fixed latency and maximum throughput for your co-location servers and dedicated connections.
